Restless Streets - TogetherAlbany, New York’s Restless Streets, consisting of vocalist Logan Carpenter, guitarist Brandon John, bassist John Alund, keyboardist Brian Nellis and drummer Aaron Uline, have put together an EP, Together, that is a notable alternative rock renaissance. Taking influences from the late 1990s and early 2000s alternative scene, the quintet have broadened the genre by encompassing an ambient, melodic rock sound that is deeply layered. The passionate, energetic vocals of Carpenter mashed up with the heart-pounding, guitar riffs of John and rhythmic backbone of Nellis and Uline make for a non-stop thrill ride throughout Together.

While bands like Sum 41, P.O.D. and Blink-182 are trying to make a comeback from their early-2000s fame, the new kids, like Restless Streets, have stepped forward to garner attention and keep the alt-rock genre moving into the future. The piercing, melodic sound of the band along with the hearty, angst-riddled lyrics resonate with pure passion. This is not a band looking for a quick buck. They put their heart, soul and personality into every note.

“Dreamers” is one of the harder tracks and it demonstrates a great balance between the need to rock and a gentle touch on instrumentation so that no one part is lost. The vocals come through with power, forcefulness without being buried by the raucous intensity of the band.

One of the darker tracks, “Wrong Kids” is an explosive, heartfelt song that takes on the subject of drug overdose and how it affects the loved ones left behind to deal with the aftermath. It is a heartbreaking track filled with the full spectrum of emotions from sadness to anger. In addition to the powerful message, Restless Streets is giving back to their community by donating the iTunes proceeds from the sale of “Wrong Kids” to HERO, which is an organization dedicated to eliminating the heroin epidemic and assisting the families of those lost to the drug and addiction. It is a worthy cause and if you know someone struggling with addiction or have lost someone to addiction, please consider making a donation.

If you are looking for something a little raw and powerful, then pick up the new EP, Together by Restless Streets. It will be available on April 28, 2017, but you can pre-order the EP: HERE.
