The alternative rock band, Cyan Kicks, are making the leap from a regional band to a global brand. The Helsinki-based quartet dropped their debut single and music video for their track, “Feathers”. The video is visually stunning with gratuitous use of smoke flares of multiple colors. The band is behind masks that are reminiscent of Nintendo’s Star Fox.
Cyan Kicks, which consists of vocalist Susanna Aleksandra, guitarist/producer Niila Perkkiö, bassist/vocalist Leevi Erkkilä and drummer Pietari Reijonen, has found the secret to a great alt-rock track that blends clear rock anthems with a hint of electronica without giving up on using actual instruments. “Feathers” is a wonderfully balanced track that does not allow any one person to overpower another. Aleksandra‘s vocals are clear and tempered without being emotionless and the boys keep the track moving forward with a great mix of synths and a strong percussion backbone. Serious fans of PVRIS and Against The Current will flock to Cyan Kicks.
If the Finnish rockers continue to make music that is this good, they could potentially be the biggest musical export for Finland. There is going to be a lot of buzz around Cyan Kicks‘s debut album due out in January 2018. It is a little ways out, but it should be worth the wait!
