Music can be a colorful experience. And for Vermillion Road‘s vocalist, Will Robison, and guitarist, Hunter Heurich, those words could not be truer. Both have synesthsia, which, in layman’s terms, is the joining of senses and in this particular case, aural sensations are perceived visually as different colors. This interesting take on music serves as a unique experience that translates into the quirky and entertaining alt-pop track, “Only One”.
Along with drummer Logan Hileman‘s steady, energetic percussion and the gripping bass line from bassist Gil Leyva, Vermillion Road takes a hold of their blended style of post-grunge, alternative and pop with their cunning songwriting that has been honed since Robison and Heurich started writing together as teenagers. And their single, “Only One”, is a party anthem, that keeps going well after the party has closed down.
“‘Only One’ is a song about waking up in a haze after a crazy party, only to discover that everyone is gone and you’re all alone in a stranger’s house wondering what happened the night before,” explains guitarist Heurich.
The Denver-based quartet are pushing the envelope of alternative music, but not so far as to exclude them from mainstream stardom. Vermillion Road has a ton of potential and “Only One” is the launching pad.
